Wild ARMs: The Vth Vanguard

deanstark
I’ve been playing this for the past 6 months I guess…

In terms of the playing hours, I’ve been playing this game for nearly 2 days. To be precise, I’ve been playing it for 40++ hours. It’s been a while since I planned to “finish” a RPG. The last RPG I remember I finished was FF Tactics so it’s really been a long time since then. Something(or was it someone?) motivated me to finish this RPG for this might be the last PS2 RPG that I might ever play. Too sad eh?

I don’t want spoilers so I won’t narrate too much detail when it comes to the story. The characters of Wild Arms 5 are well-developed. They really have the reason to join the party and defeat the radicals. The main plot of the story is how the party would be able to break the wall between the two races; Human and Verunis, which is one and the same before some time.

Dean Stark is the main protagonist, he is totally dense. He is obsessed with the idea of being a golem hunter and had Nightburn, the number one golem hunter, as his idol. He loves golems very much that he would dig everytime just to find a golem part. An incident changed his perspective and decided to travel with the others. He is very idealistic that most of the characters are annoyed. Even so, he is considered very influential to all his comrades.

Rebecca Streisand  is Dean’s childhood friend who seems to have a crushon him. Knowing Dean, a totally dense person, she never dare to confess it even though she seems to exert effort so that Dean would realize. She plays the part of the narrator because she kept a diary since the start of their journey. She is also the coolest character for me for she can do acrobatic-shooting.

Avril Vent Fleur is the reason why the boring days of Dean and Rebecca progressed. She had a grand entrance from the sky alongside with a golem. Coincidentally, Dean and Rebecca is at the site where she landed. She woke up without any trace of her memories except the word “Johnny Appleseed” and the dual ARMs she carries which she gave to Dean. She was accompanied by Dean and Rebecca on a journey in order to regain her memories.

Chuck Preston was soon introduced but the last one to join the party. He is the golem apprentice that was mistaken to be the thief that stole the artifact from a town. With the help of Avril, he was saved from being hanged. He was resolved by the party to do something instead of watching each of his friends from his hometown to be taken away by the Verunis. He joined the party last.

Greg Russelberg is a renowned golem crusher and fugitive during this time. He had once a family that was murdered by a man with a golem’s arm. That was the day that he swore to destroy all the golems and kill that man in order to deliver his vengeance. He soon met Dean and the party. Dean was angry the fact that Greg is crushing golems but he believed that he is a good person. Greg somehow remembers his son whenever Dean is with him. He agreed to accompany the party believing that he will meet the person who killed his family once he join the party. He promised as well not to destroy golems to Dean during the journey.

Carol Anderson is the klutz but very reliable comrade of the party. Despite of being small, she is capable of defending herself just fine. She is also very knowledgeable to the things going around the Filgaia because she grew under the premises of Professor Elvis. She decided to search for her professor and went to a journey but met the party. Avril reminds her of the professor so she decided to go with them while also searching for her professor. She also considers Dean as her big brother. She is afraid of being alone again so she seek the company of others and she finally knew herself what to do since she met the party.

I don’t like to introduce the antagonists ^^.

I like the HEX system of the game. I wonder though how does one bullet hit multiple enemies in one HEX. Anyway, I also like the dual tech system because it reminds me of Chrono Trigger/Cross. My favorite Dual Tech is…

triggerrondo

Trigger Rondo!~ Dean and Rebecca are very cool during the Dual Tech. It is also not so exaggerated unlike the other dual techs.

The story is kind of puzzling during the later part. I’m already at that part so I hope I could finish this game soon.

This is actually my first Wild Arms game so maybe I would try to play the rest as well.

NSTP - CWTS C1

wreckedIt’s very sad that we are sometimes taking for granted the things we certainly don’t know the importance to others. While others are trying their best in order to gain it, we are trying to waste it as much.

Today, we visited an area in Quezon City near the garbage dump site to have our NSTP(National Service Training Program) - CWTS(Community Welfare Training Service). CWTS pertains to the community service that college students are obliged to do in order to serve the country. Why CWTS? Because I think ROTC won’t be able to help the country in times of need. We must focus first in the people. The other reason is because I’m not fit to do heavy activities such as military training.

The place is not that hapless. Even though they are problematic with their own family problems, they were able to spare some time to welcome us. They are also happy despite the fact that their situation in life is a serious one. They welcomed us as if we were their own sons and daughters. Through this, we were able to open our eyes to what really is the situation of the country.

The water services they have are “installments” only. Meaning to say, they pay the pipe line construction monthly in order to own it as their own property. Because of that, they pay 600 pesos every month so that the line would be permanent. In cases that they won’t be able to pay, the spigot will be locked so that the water won’t flow to their line. It really is a sad thing. To think some of us are enjoying the water without thinking any problems how to provide it. Good thing they have this alternative well just in front of their house to decrease their water bills.

We tried to ask what did the government officials do to their concerns. They said that the only projects they were able to do was road construction and the basketball courts. We were surprised that those were the only projects of the officials. Isn’t a little bit of strange? Why can’t they think of any projects that will improve the people and help their budget? Such as scholarships, allowances, part-time jobs, seminar trainings, health seminars and free water services so that the people at vicinity will learn to handle money. Good thing they have this organization named Concerned Mothers’ League (CML) that takes the action and exerts effort in order to pursue some sponsors to do some activities and have projects at their vicinity.

I asked my host family if they were able to get the electric bill subsidy. I was not aware that for them to get it, they should have government i.d and NSO paper of their marriage contract. That is the reason they said they didn’t bother to have the subsidy. The cost they’ll need to obtain the papers would already cost them that much.

Inevitably, the host family I was assigned has their son’s name the same as mine. He is also thin like me and I heard that he suffered from broncho pneumonia when he was still a baby.I also suffered the same illness and I think it is the reason why I haven’t gotten fatter since then.

We left the vicinity hoping that we will once return again with our proposed project in order to help their area. Also, to hear more of their concerns and their experiences that we haven’t experienced yet and yet to be learned.

Sometimes, exposure with these things really helps in order for us to be prepared to the bigger world that awaits for us once we finish our studies.

Inu Yasha - At last?

inuyashaI don’t know if I would be glad or sad about Inu Yasha’s ending. After all, they managed to defeat Naraku, I think. (I haven’t read the manga yet. I finished watching the series though.) I know it has been a pretty long journey before the boss was defeated. Isn’t it kind of sad? I guess there is no endless anime. Some things will really come to an end.

I liked Inu Yasha ever since I saw the series first on the television. I’m fond of the story so I managed to finished it. What I really liked in Inu Yasha was the journey itself. Their journey is very unpredictable. I also loved the characters for their tenacity to defeat Naraku. They never grew tired so I never grew tired of watching their adventures as well. I actually don’t know what happened to Kikyo in the ending. I hope she died peacefully and accepted that Inu Yasha has moved on already with their past relationship.

I think this is the longest anime I have finished watching (Regardless of Naruto and Bleach filler arcs) . It’s never boring because there is always something new. I also enjoy watching it because it is set to the Feudal Era. The folklores are sometimes involved so I learn something whenever I watch it. One thing I learned from Inu Yasha is the folklore of Princess Kaguya from the moon.

I hope Rumiko Takahashi gave it a good ending just like what she did on Maison Ikkoku. I’ll also wait for the next project! :P .

Anyway, I love the series so I don’t mind if they continue it… Just a suggestion. The manga is already finished so I guess there won’t be any breaks anymore. The ending is very vague so a continuation would really save us from reading mangas.

Even so~ I’m also planning to read the manga now so later maties~

Just wanna share something: I drew a picture of Kagome when I was still a high schooler… I cherished it because it’s the best(I think so) I have drawn so far. It was tore apart by a classmate of mine and I got so frustrated. Hahaha~ I wish I could draw it again the same as I did before…

Ideal World~

citytreeAs for everyone, Ideal World huh? Does such thing exists? This topic is our current topic at my subject Political Science. This subject just aims to have students aware of the politics itself and to decrease at an extent the negative thoughts prior to the word politics. If I ask a Filipino what he thinks about politics… His/her answer will have a high probability of being negative. Why? because the government exhibits it… I myself would be hypocrite if I deny that I’m thinking negative as well. At a certain, my professor said that it’s not true at all. It was just tainted by the people who was influenced by… MONEY…

Anyway, I’m talking about IDEAL world here. My professor said that Ideal World exists in our minds. And if the mind can think of it then the body is able to achieve it. He also said that IDEAL world is never different for everyone because if one thinks of something, that something becomes a part of the IDEAL world itself. Isn’t pretty vague? How about I think that the ideal world is something that has many mountains but one thinks it has many oceans? -_- What would be the result of such imagination???

Ideal World?Nobody can control someone what to think or what to do. If the IDEAL world were to exist, I don’t think there would be peace since the mind can think of something and it materializes in anyway for an instant, then that would be a dangerous world wouldn’t? Selfishness and laziness would be born in that world if a thing you want will just appear in your sight without even budging or working for it.

We actually had this activity in the classroom. A combined ideas of our ideal worlds. The frequent question was what will the government do to motivate people if what they want could be achieved without even working for it. This totally wrecked my mind. They why have an IDEAL world? Humans were able to adapt in the world because they want something…(I’m not talking about the Natural Selection) They are challenged by time. That is why they work hard for something to earn. That is why they have this what they call direction in life. Because they want something to do before the given time runs out. If these goals can be achieved in a snap of finger… Then the human race is over…Right?

I’m not really sure if IDEAL world is something similar to the magical world or something like a parallel universe. I can even think of linking it to an anime… Why? because if these romanticist, the escape artists, think of these things in the IDEAL world, then it would be dangerous. Try imaging this scene in an anime… If the ideal world can materialize it then… -_- I don’t want the IDEAL world then. These imaginations are made to inspire people. That’s what I think. To learn something good from it. To improve oneself.

floodedclass If I were to choose between the “real world”, which they call the “shadow” of the IDEAL world or the “Ideal World” then I will really really choose the “real one…” I don’t care if they see it as something staying on your comfort zone. I just don’t want to play with the life given to us. I don’t think it would be meaningful to live in an ideal world. It might be the what they call paradise but I don’t care. As long as we have grasp of what we really want to do… Then I’m fine staying right here. I’ll be glad to.

My teacher is stupid. I’m also stupid. Part 2

kagami Hmm? Why Part 2? Well, I don’t know if it is a coincidence or maybe the inevitable. My teacher when I was first year in English is also my teacher in English during my 4th year days. Guess what? A Journal again of course. I’ve been motivated to write something again about it. I dug up my stuffs and found it~!

There was this entry(actually my first entry) where I ask what really is the title of our subject. Hahaha, Oh come on,it’s not simply English IV~. He replied when he checked the entry and wrote:

Masterpieces in Literature. Communication Arts English IV

I was quite surprised when I read that part. Maybe I was the only one who really knows what was the name of our subject back then. Anyway, it’s not worth knowing since we just simply write English IV. I also remembered that the day I wrote this entry of mine was the day I knew the word “zeitgeist”.

(reading…skimming)

I remember this part! (taken from the journal)

During Calculus classes, my classmates borrowed my assignment(nothing to boast for)…Yet after Sir Anteja entered the room!… My paper was still on them so I said to myself “wish ko lang ibalik ninyo sakin assignment ko -_-.” Athina, our class pres., heard it and announced to class “Nasan daw paper ni ai-ban!” I was ashamed to Sir Anteja because of that. You know, letting your classmates copy the homework is not helping them…

I actually have a journal as well during 3rd year but I never got it back since I submitted it.

This was — from Mushishi! I’ve got this trivia from Mushishi!

Do you know that we spend 1/4 of our lives with our pillows?

I also wrote this??! (an incantation from Bleach)

Ye Lord mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, thee who bears the name of man, truth and temperance. Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws.

There was also a time when my brother is so hooked with Xenosaga and I also got hooked because of watching him play every now and then. And also that time, we were studying the different archetypes. The ouroboros caught my attention because it has a meaning of eternal recurrence. Eternal recurrence was philosophical belief by Wilhelm Nietzsche. He wrote the books Der Will Zur Macht(The Will for Power), Jenseits von Gut und Bose(Beyond Good and Evil) and Also Sprach Zarathustra(Thus Spoke Zarathustra). The three books were the tagline of the three chapters of the game. Interesting isn’t? I also remebered Envy because I saw him at the movie of FMA ~

I’ve got this trivia from Kamichu! ~

Did you know that there are seven gods in just one grain of rice? — oh realllly?

I also remember this ~ (taken from the Journal again) I was still playing Ragnarok Online when I wrote this entry back then~

Sir I know you can’t relate but I do play Ragnarok Online (back then). There is a job there named “bard”. I decided to name my character “The Song of Roland”. :P Quite funny yet it has a meaning. Some players reacted to my name. Knowing that players of Ragnarok are very addicts (spare me), some still have their grasp from their lesson and literature so it is fun to know.

This is the part 2 yes. My teacher is stupid. why? I really did some effort writing this stuff you know? I even conduct some searches through the internet. He didn’t checked the remaining 6 entries because it was already the clearance week for us graduates. I also saw this dumped in front of his room. After all our efforts to write in this silly journal? It’s just going to be a trash? Maybe I was already so-so in using English during this time since I’m already indulged in frequent watching of animes. The entries are the clues of what anime I am watching at the moment. hehehe~

It is good to reminisce the good times~
